- Hi, I've seen that you made edits like this one. The image was already included in the page Episyrphus balteatus, which is sorted into the category Category:Episyrphus. It does not make sens to put the images themself in this category too. So, I'll revert your edits. -- aka 19:17, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
BCE
[edit]Hello,
You have created several categories about ice age, ending with BCE. In my opinion, this notation is inaccurate, since in geology years are counted before 1950, not before 1 AD. The correct notation is BP, for Before Present. --Juiced lemon 23:43, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Juiced lemon - I will remember that when editing later - thanks. I not anyone else change it, I will change when I have the time. --Glenn 06:28, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Juiced lemon - it has now been changed. --Glenn 07:37, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Category Pendulums Also I appreciated your efforts to categorize pictures, your recent modifications of the category:Pendulums might be not optimal, and I didn't categorized them myself because they were preliminary drawings. More sophisticated drawings of the same series have been classified among the sub-category:Foucault pendulum. I suggest you to move the categorization of Image:Foucault-reel-vitesse-nulle.png and Image:Pendule_de_Foucault-vitesse_nulle.png into the sub-category:Foucault pendulum, and, for example, to upgrade one of the most explanatory images of such a forced pendulum, for example Image:Foucault-anim.gif into your main category category:Pendulums.--Nbrouard 10:34, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Nbrouard - Placing those article was a first categorisation, later me or other can move some of those article in some of the articles in subcategories. --Glenn 05:57, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi. You are invited to discuss Category:Weighting scales at Commons:Categories for discussion/Current requests/2007/09#Category:Weighting_scales. — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 04:38, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi ! Thank you for the cleaning ! The place is now shining :) One remark : maybe Pulse amplitude modulation and Pulse width modulation should not be in Amplitude modulation, because they may contain only numerical modulation ? Regards --Zedh 00:08, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Zedh - Thanx for your appreciation. I think of amplitude modulation as a broad category - and therefore encompasses all amplitude like modulation. Please read this: [1] Quote: "...A simple form of AM often used for digital communications is on-off keying, a type of amplitude-shift keying by which binary data is represented as the presence or absence of a carrier wave. This is commonly used at radio frequencies to transmit Morse code, referred to as continuous wave (CW) operation....". Regards --Glenn 22:29, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- ok, but in this case every modulation could be used for digital communications, for example Frequency modulation and RDS systems .. therefore I agree that multiple categorization will be usefull for searching images. So this is a good solution --Zedh 20:23, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]][[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:49, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

This is a deletion request for the community to discuss whether the nominated page should be kept or deleted. Please voice your opinion in the linked request above. Thank you very much! If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

I have removed your recent additions since the river has no connection to manifolds in either mathematics or engineering, so these categories are irrelevant. Cheers. Rodhullandemu (talk) 16:17, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Reminder
[edit]Hi Glenn. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. Here, {{Delete}} is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the {{Delete}} template (rather than the automatic Nominate for deletion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests), you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 20:17, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
- I have read it and seen that someone else has done what was required. --Glenn (talk) 21:00, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
Hi Glenn. I noticed that a deletion request you made was not done correctly.
This is not the first time you've made this mistake; when you get this wrong, it creates a fair amount of work for other people to clean it up. Please do try to get this right in the future.
There are several steps to making a deletion request (DR) correctly; among other things you must transclude the deletion into the correct daily DR list, and to notify the page creator and optionally other human (non-bot) editors of the page. By far the easiest way to do all of this correctly is to use the automatic Nominate for deletion or Nominate category for discussion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests and COM:CFD#Starting requests, which takes care of all that using vetted Javascript. If you prefer to add the {{Delete}} template or {{Category for discussion}} template manually, you are required to follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy or the "By hand" portion of COM:CFD#Starting requests, normally collapsed). Again, though, there is no need to follow complex instructions if you use the automatic tools.
Also worth knowing: on Commons, {{Delete}} is not a "speedy delete" request like it is on many other projects; instead, it starts a discussion of whether the file should be deleted. If you think a particular media file really obviously does not belong on Commons, see the instructions at Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion. Common cases that are better handled with a speedy delete than a DR include:
- own work within 7 days (COM:CSD#G7)
- empty category never likely to be used (COM:CSD#C2).
Common bad reasons people have for making DRs in the first place include:
- after renaming a category, trying to delete the resulting redirect in violation of policy COM:CATRED
- making a DR for a file where there is already a current DR
- trying to delete one's own work within 7 days (use {{G7}} instead)
- placing {{Delete}} on the deletion subpage itself, or on a talk page.
Also, please don't use {{Ffd}} (that's an English Wikipedia thing).
If you have further questions about the deletion process, you can ask them at COM:Help desk or COM:Village pump. — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 00:09, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Jeff G.: My focus/priority at the time was to make more specific categories and recategorize a LOT of files. My focus at the time was not make the deletion thing - I seldom make deletion requests. So to use "wrongly placed" mental energy at the time, to write a deletion description page, would have interfered with my efficient work flow. Note: I did make write a deletion reason, that was important, so I priortized that. If you have waited with your post some days, With high probability, I would made the deletion description page - I might have forgot - then I would have been sorry after receiving your second post. Just because you made a post in 2022 here, does not mean I remembered that post in 2026 (3-4 years later). So please delay your reminder posts some days (a week?). Please make some effort to evalute a users contributions in a context. Please assume good faith. I did not do vandalism. --Glenn (talk) 04:49, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- Waiting some days would have interfered with my efficient work flow, leaving Category:Incomplete deletion requests - missing subpage populated unnecessarily for days, with the potential to annoy all 27 editors of that page, plus the watchers, for that entire period. Why delete, when you could have made that category contain Category:Fortifications of Copenhagen (19th to 20th century) instead? — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 07:35, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
