Anodized tantalum

Summary

[edit]
Description
Metallil endal on pinna maksimeerimiseks käsnjas struktuur. Suure lilla kondensaatori mõõtmed on 4 x 3 mm. Tänapäeval on sellised kondensaatorid tantaali ja nioobiumi kõrge hinna tõttu palju väiksemad.
English: Old electronic devices, such as televisions, used large tantalum and niobium capacitors. If you remove the polymer shell and clean away the dry electrolyte, you'll find an anodized niobium or tantalum core inside, as you can see in the photo. The metal itself has a spongy structure to maximize surface area. The large purple capacitor measures 4 x 3 mm. Nowadays, due to the high cost of tantalum and niobium, such capacitors are much smaller.
